True, to part of that ...so how about we add a little more clarification to that point.

We are looking at what was once was an illegal drug that is now approved for prescription on a limited basis to the "so far" approved 30 practitioners across Australia. [October 2017 data.] All G.P.'s who are interested must apply for special approval to prescribe and monitor Cannabis medications. " And medical specialists can indeed apply to the Therapeutic Goods Administration to prescribe cannabis-based products to their patients under the Special Access and Authorised Prescriber schemes." https://sydney.edu.au/news-opinion/...using-medicinal-cannabis-on-prescription.html

"..in Australia, the TGA is reluctant to approve the use of cannabis for the conditions for which it is most commonly used in the community: pain, insomnia and PTSD/anxiety.
So the TGA will grant access to patients with less common conditions – such as multiple sclerosis and intractable epilepsy – but not to the 20 per cent of Australians suffering from chronic pain.

Unlike Canada or America, Australian doctors just cant go and write prescriptions yet. The Insurance Council of Australia also need all the data to construct medical liability insurances annexures for GP's to sign onto. There are studies of controlled patient outcomes that need to be completed of which I believe 153 patients in Australia are so far on special prescriptions. G.P.s in general need training on exact dosages and application for their patients with epilepsia and chronic pain. The AMA will also need time for consideration and to address the medical fraternity in Australia as this was once considered in the land of the Traditional medicine and not Clinical medicine for our Aussie doctors , thanks to our over cautious politicians.

Will it happen tomorrow? No! But 2018 and 2019 may see significant steps being taken in Australian medicine IMO to use Cannabis oil as a safe and effective pain relief and disruptor for both CPS and Epileptics. So we have a few hurdles to cross yet but with sound scientific proof of efficacy in Australian patient trials the big medical wheel of approval will eventually turn and move the Cannabis train forward for full use in the near future. IMO.

    Cheers....59
