Great work IQ Industry Queensland !! Always first with the news and highlighting the successes of hard-working Queenslanders. EQ Resources and Mt Carbine Quarries were delighted to make a big contribution to the construction of the Yorkeys Knob marina facility. In fact, you could say that a lot of Mt Carbine went into making this world class facility just north of Cairns.Mt Carbine Quarries prides itself on using its erstwhile waste rock for big infrastructure projects like Yorkeys Knob. After more than 120 years of mining at Mt Carbine, we have a big job of tidying up piles of waste, sorting it for so many useful second lives. We have big rocks perfect for protecting marina facilities from our occasionally angry seas, we have medium sized rocks perfect for that spot for a garden feature and we have crushed aggregates and sand, perfect for road building and cementing.Our mission is to build the modern circular mine and find a purpose for every tonne we mine and blast out of the tough ground at Mt Carbine. Even down to the sands that make up our tailings. The treatment process at Mt Carbine uses only water and gravity to liberate the critical mineral #Tungsten leaving our waste in an inert state for construction uses. Old timers have left millions, yes millions, of tonnes of waste lying around for our and future generations to find a second purpose. So if, like Yorkeys Knob, you need to build a sea wall, a marina, or a road or just a feature garden…give us a call and we will find you a rock you can fall in love with.
