One concept used by some in the exploration game is the idea that you need to focus the available metal and sulphur into as small an area as possible to create an ore body.
If you consider, say, Monty, you have squeezed 100,000 tonnes of copper into a couple of million tonnes. it's thin but high grade.
This hole? 130m (or is it 290m?) of thickness...lets say this goes for 500 x 500m @ 130m thickness. if you put 100kt of copper into that mass of rock it's going to be at sub 500ppm levels. Say 120ppm Cu.
That's what you are looking at. A VHMS system that's unfocused and weak can create massive, anomalous, sub-grade material which loks good but is crap.
