Thirstygirl you are correct. Norton is the name of the goldmine and Nargoorin the town.
Do you know the regional geology well?
A brief history I have read on the area by best recollection was there were a couple of historic outcropping goldfields, but they did not amount to much. But back in the day they did not dig too deep if the grades were very high and continuous.
Do you know the Norton goldfield. My one and only visit several years ago. It would seem to me that a lot of current mbk drilling is in or around the road and the seasonal creek. Could be a tough call getting a pit dug through the creek bed. The local kids were swimming in the creek nearby the bridge in town. Can't imagine the locals would be too estatic with the arsenic leaching into the swimming hole.
