They also lift guidance. As an investor on the sidelines we can only go off what management are telling us. Mark's pessimistic feel has hurt the SP in the past but at least it should mean a reduction in the possibility of bad surprises going forward.
Making money on the share market would be easy if there were never any 'bad surprise market updates'. But thats the risk i guess.
