    Two reasons I can think of.

    1.They want the market (and Senate) fully informed before they front the Senate Enquiry next week, so they can answer any business related questions openly with information already available to all investors (to be applauded, if that is true).

    2. They’ve decided that the growth in the US is material and the continuous disclosure obligations meant they needed to announce. 

    if I was betting, it would be option 1.
