Keeting, your numbers of 1T of banana stem = 100kg of fibre is around the mark. As for the use of Beta or even Alpha(where is it?) this depends on whether PPY are going to use the core, leaf or the entire banana stem and don’t forget they still have not perfected the drying process and actually no longer have a dryer. Secondly are they going to cut the waste stems manually or try to resurrect there failed harvester? And one would think until some else pays that no market research or impact studies have occurred. And also unless there is money from somewhere PPY have no choice but to use the Walkamin site assuming PPY and the Watkins family are still in partnership. Bottom line is there are far more questions than answers with anything PPY are trying to do.
