"The one sector that is responsible for reduced revenue (structured products) reports the full revenue from a product sale (for example investors pays $10m for a financial product - SEQ books $10m revenue - but it's not real revenue and a matching expense of $10m is also recorded."
Not exactly sure how this works but my understanding is when they sell a Structured Product they don't book the full revenue upfront as it is say, a 3 year product. The revenue is booked over the three year period.
This is the opposite of what say, iSelect used to do. They used to book the full value of the sale upfront and if there was a claw back that would go to abnormals.
SEQ is probably the right way to record that revenue but if they are slowing down sales because of market conditions as they say I am not sure why that results in an abnormal....
