Ammonia can be made from electrolytic hydrogen and atmospheric nitrogen.
Ammonia boils at -33OC at atmospheric pressure. The largest fully refrigerated ammonia tank holds up to 50,000 short tons of liquid ammonia . This amount of ammonia contains 8800 tons of hydrogen. The world’s largest liquid hydrogen tank, owned by NASA, holds 336 tons of liquid hydrogen Liquid ammonia can be stored at room temperature at a pressure of about 200 PSI. World production of ammonia is 150 million tons per year. 18 to 20 million tons of liquid ammonia are transported by sea each year. Green ammonia could replace the present production of ammonia from fossil fuels with no major changes in infrastructure. Ammonia is already established as a fuel for marine and stationary prime movers. This new development marks a great step forward in the potential use of ammonia.
It is a far more logical fuel than hydrogen.
