The global distribution of phosphate reserves shows remarkable concentration, with the top five countries controlling over 87% of known deposits:

• Morocco: 50 billion tonnes (70%)
• China: 3.8 billion tonnes (5.4%)
• Egypt: 2.8 billion tonnes (3.9%)
• Tunisia: 2.5 billion tonnes (3.5%)
• Russia: 2.4 billion tonnes (3.4%)
