I agree with the sentiment that if they've spent this long conducting due diligence and decided to decline the deal then something doesn't add up and it's the right move. Obviously effort/risk vs return no longer fits the bill.

Of all the people you could have named I don't see how Jon is a bully though he/she hasn't even commented on this thread, and is usually more on the bullied side for alleged up ramping than attacking people for no reason. If you're going to call someone out, call out the right ones..
