The resistance here in NZ is someone in Govt would be held accountable for the investment... and the sediment trap of Wellington with 15,000 Govt cubicle dwellers would have to show results.. So much easier for them to just Grant the money?
Here in NZ we sell most of our fledgling innovation to overseas entities, to then in a few years time pay for it 10 times over as services or products offered back by internationals..
I watched the interview of the Kiwi guy who invented Call Waiting,, he was turned down by NZ Telecom at the time , once it was licensed and available in over 40 countries NZ Telecom then and only then licensed it for NZ use... he pitched it for NZ Telecom to be his partners.. to be turned down?
There was a line in the Interview when they asked him about revenue, he stated, "Its like winning first division lotto every week"
