As a holder of both, I agree with your views - 2 african stories, significant resources, transportation issues to overcome, and horrendous red tape to get through.
The difference is management (BTW, Klaus destroyed the reputation of AVZ, Nigel has revived it.) and product pricing is making a difference for AVZ - SC6, PLS etc are through the roof, projected shortages of decent material is forecast for decades to come, and the EV revolution has gained enormous traction. Bauxite pricing is static.
I do think that eventually CAY will gain some respect and share appreciation, but a significant number of shareholders are disaffected by the general behaviour and management style displayed by the BoD over the past few years.
The new broom will have to sweep those that have been sidelined out the door; a bit like a cleansing ale after a big night out
