Lol conspiracy theories abound. However it is nothing more than the S&P indices quarterly rebalance which happens on the 3rd Friday of March, June, September, December. The smart money trades the rebalance where possible.
Ref announcement on 7/9 - ARU was booted out of the ASX300 on Friday 21/9. Check out the others that were also kicked out of the ASX300 - all but 1 had volume spikes, 5 dropped up to 11%, 2 finished even and 1 gained 4%.
