Not sure what you are on about with the "fine print". I'm sure if there was a deceptive "fine print", it would be all over the news. Just take the voice referendum as an example of where there was scepticism and doubts about the real goal of what the government is proposing. Surely the government isn't going to say "sucked in, you lose" if the government guarantee isn't exercised due to a bank going bust? Or am I missing something here?
Also, I don't get your sentence, "I'm not going to say anything more about it, as I don't want to influence anyone contemplating a significant financial decision". It sounds like you are just trying to make up things but just say you don't want to tell us because it may influence us when it's probably going to make us know you're just full of hot air.
