    one big problem as I understand it is that the mineralised veins are narrow, much narrower than the minimum tunnel size for mechanised mining. Hence the effective ore grade is massively diluted. Maybe if you sent guys down to crawl down thru 1 metre tunnels for hundreds of metres they could make it economic at current gold prices. Maybe ex-submariners would be up for it.
