IT cost over-runs are notorious for getting completely out of control. It’s to do with some (read many) IT professionals being overpaid for the skills they actually bring to the table. Incompetence is well rewarded amongst the T-shirt brigade, the mess they leave generates even more contractual fees for the ‘clean-up’.
The ladder of shame is: excessive CEO salaries, excessive Directors fees (for tea sipping) and then incompetent IT contractors.
