A slightly different slant to that , is as explained by a geo to me , because the veins formed so long ago maybe a billion years ago after the veins formed , there was erosion of the mountains flattening them , and then there was transported material either from ( wind) loess or alluvial (water) that over the long time covered any outcropping making it hard for the old timers to find any sign of gold . Western Areas WMC (linked to BHP) did aerial surveys of the area is the 1930s hoping to see visuals of any outcropping failed , It was not until later in the 1950s or 196s0 with their trucks that thumped the earth with gravity soundings and did magnetics to that positive results occurred .
Andy Well further North of Garden valley was found out as some type of gravity or magnetic anomaly by WMC at some point but not followed up until after Allen kelly a young ex WMC Geo (who explained it to me ) who went out on his own with Heath helewell (spelling) forming Doray in around 2008 and found the deposit (and got explorer of the year) but the strange part is they were able to find it due partly to soil sample testing from memory , which seems to blow the thing of transported cover out the window ?
