Great discussion which I like instead of the trite insults.
I like you to explore your own statement "However many people here would be investors, who plonk in money hoping for 7-15% returns per annum, and aren’t smart enough to pick timings, so simply invest for 5-25 years."
Everybody who is serious in making money are investors. Investors pre-define their risk at the outset. In other words they know their exit strategy before they invest in $1. To this end they manage their position sizing in terms of money management. There is market risk and stock specific risk. What is your exit strategy to deal with these two aspects?
7-15% return - good. But are people disciplined enough to take that return when achieved or does greed leave them in a particular stock ? Alternatively, does fear stop them from cutting a loss and re-assessing where they went wrong? Do people actually do that?
7-15% - A rising market lifts all ships and people are fine. But have you got a system that consistently delivers this return?
Few points for you to consider.
