Tax loss selling in small cap by my years of observation is one of the great furphies. If one was able to determine all trades related to this selling and put a VWAP on the price I am 100% sure that the price destruction always outweighs the perceived tax benefit. The problem is I reckon it can only be quantified by observation so accountants, stockbrokers et al are happy to play along.
