Public listing can be a bit of a paradox for innovative companies. The road to success is in it's nature unwritten, and shareholder expectations are usually at odds with the goals of the company. 90% of shareholders want one thing, a secure ROI. The company wants to do something that's never been done before, which makes the market uneasy.

Not sure if too many innovators have managed to hit the sweet spot with balancing these two opposing forces, but I tend to be forgiving of these sort of companies when they come short in delivering on shareholder expectations. Smashing out a substandard product or keeping costs down and promotion high just to appease shareholders is a surefire way of creating another doomed pretender.

This is a bit of a "squeaky bum" time for us with the depressing state of the shareprice, but it's usually darkest before dawn, hard to avoid that cliche. At least we are in good company here though. Other companies i've held have been mostly filled with disgruntled whingers, complaining about every aspect of operations.

Grateful for this, it makes the uncertainty far more bearable.
