    This is of course not new at all. Ni extraction from laterite sources requires substantially higher energy consumption and CO2 emission due to the fossil fuel power plants in Indonesia. It’s a dirty process and terrible for Indonesian pristine environment. EV manufacturers in Europe and the US are very careful where they source raw materials from and Indonesian laterite Ni will be mostly used in Chinese EVs. Ni Sulphide is much cleaner source of Ni.
