For an explorer you definitely don't want a sh*t one.

It also comes down to the contract - who is liable for what.
You can have poor ground conditions (drilling conditions, poor due to rock formation conditions) that can jam a bit - the liability of this is generally on the lease holder rather than the drilling company. No driller wants to bog their rods however, and that's where experience comes in.
That's just one of the many examples of why you want a good, experienced company, or at the very least a good, experienced driller.

I would hope a geologist is on site to supervise and conduct all sampling, and I sure hope they're better than some of the muppets I've seen around the industry of late.
