Personally, I would like to see someone who can provide a clear vision moving forward....
Don't we all - but so often the founders who develop new disruptive technologies and publicly list a company, act as if it is still theirs and show little concern for the shareholders for whom they now work or the senior commercially experienced management personnel they employ. The Chairman and the majority of directors should always be truly independent whilst the avoidance of some of the basic guideline compliance issues [thank you SteinHills] is typical of way too many loss-making start-up ASX listings - and part-time exec directors salaries is altogether another issue.
