I think the issue is volatility. Although there are plenty of shares on issue, a lot of them are tightly held. As CAT does not return a dividend, it is difficult to value. The only way to get a return is buy and sell, which adds to the volatility.
Based on past SP fluctuations, I expect uptrend to end of month when 1/2 year results in. If CAT waits another few weeks after that before issuing guidance, there will be another spike.
