SP in theory (supply and demand) should go up the less units there is of it that exist to make up the MC. Think of it like the less you slice a pie the bigger the pieces are...
In practice, it takes time for that to get realised and not really something immediate. Tinkering with the supply side of the equation (which is what a buy back does by limiting supply) always takes a while compared to the demand side (such as an immediate increase in net buyers).
