The article above posted by Kiril from SMH is the one I was referring to in my post.
The fact that CBD hired the ex CEO of Neighborhood Energy after it failed to make the purchase, makes me uncomfortable.
To my suspicious mind it hints of something shonky with the failed bid.
Before I heard about the appointment, I thought the failure was due to CBD not being able to borrow the necessary funds but was not too concerned.
Why could not CBD borrow from its Chinese partners?
Obviously they did not think that it was a deal worth doing.
Starting a retailer from the scratch would be a lot of money upfront, before getting some profits down the road (maybe). The CBD profits are still too small IMO to go down that road.
