It shows the company is moving in the right direction and is on target.
If you dont announce, people then freak out, say they are uninformed, dump stocks, blame management and moan. The company should announce and keep the market informed. That land was a major acquisition. We have all been in stocks with no ongoing news and they dont tend to do well.
