Firstly, can a HC poster or CT1 representative tell me what makes their controllers different or unique aside from their low cost? Which really I consider only exists because the controller is unknown in the IoT market.
I understand CT1 claims it to be 'a world-leading Internet of Things (IoT) solution to enable food businesses to better manage their critical control points.' But how is it different or superior to any of the other PLCs that have been around for decades???
Please tell me so I can invest with a sense of confidence and optimism!
Secondly, I personally found the announcement unclear. So rightly or wrongly I came to a few conclusions:
The deal indirectly involves at least five companies: CT1 (AU) and Thinxtra(NZ) and Sigfox(FR) and Kordia (NZ) and Wisol (KR) and other electronic device makers for IoT. Since Sigfox is a distributor (among other services) for a great many multinational and niche companies. I mention Wisol Ltd because it partners with Sigfox and makes devices that suit the NZ and AU wireless markets .
I think the deal involves Thinxtra using Sigfox IOT-ct1.ax (software that processes wireless transmission) to send data to a Kordia tower and then on to its intended cloud or computer destination.
Curiously, at the Sigfox site I did find a company competitor Romteck Australia Pty Ltd who also 'provide IoT solutions for 'Mission Critical' applications e.g. where lives depend on the reliability of our solutions.' Will CT1 get a similar listing on Sigfox's site?
The current deal only seems to apply to NZ. Thinxtra have the necessary infrastructure in place in NZ thanks to Kordia. But I couldn't find a provider for the Sigfox low power wide area network in Australia. Anyone know what the situation is?
So my conclusion is this: CT1 has agreed to use Thinxtra which uses another company's software and various other companies hardware and infrastructure to allow the client's data generated in NZ by the CT1 controller (which may or may not be a PLC) to be stored and read in another physical location.
I could be utterly wrong in my observations and conclusions. So please feel free to enlighten me as to the errors of my muddled thinking. As I stated previously, I found the announcement to be clear as mud.
