With there being an expectation (probably unrealistic) of news today, when none arrives, somebody sees the opportunity to wipe down few lines, trigger some stop losses, trigger some panic by people worried about "insider knowledge selling". Mop that up to buy at 55-56c, then sit back until the announcement arrives and sell when the price goes up. Tidy profit.
