Firstly, sorry for the long post here but I hope it helps provide more information to existing holders.
I recently hired a Spanish speaking person to contact Patia Spain and conduct some 'covert' research on how the roll out is going. The person has a family member with diabetes so the premise was to inquire on behalf of that family member. I gave the person a full debrief on what PD is and armed her with few key questions that I wanted answers for such as pricing data, where to do the test, how many hospitals/practices are doing it, how long results take, and anything else that would be informative.
The below is the information she put together for me after speaking with the product manager for PromarkerD within Patia.
So what I found interesting is the price of the test, 250euros as a minimum seems excessively high ($300 USD). My understanding was the test was going to be in the vicinity of ~$50 USD. ..
My next question now is what is Patia doing to market this to GP's and Nephrologists... It does sound like getting this test rebated by government medicare systems is the path Richard needs to pursue for it become the cash cow we are hoping for it be.
They would not disclose qty of tests done so it reads to me that uptake is very much in its infancy stage, this resonates to why the US release is taking much longer. I think they understand now that they need to find ways to make the test more affordable and more visible, thus the pursuit of a reimbursement code and signing up with a well known company (wink wink Jannsen)..
