I suggest that you listen to Marcus Padley and a recent video he did recently. He says as a fund manager, there is no room for sentiment and his job is to make money for his investors (me included now that I have invested in his ETF Fund). I believe that you are possibly emotionally anchored to GW and your philosophy that Greed is not good ? But every single private trader or tradesman while they may sell you the product or do that trade job, demands adequate compensation. That FIFO worker on $150k a year greedy ? Or just receiving an appropriate remuneration for his acumen or skill ? Private fund managers are no different in that if they do well, they get a larger inflow of funds and thus receive more commission…. But they only get that if they are successful. Have a look at the fund performance of any one of the Hyperion Funds (say HYGG) and tell me that while they may be paid great fees, they are not also producing great results. Ethics in business is one thing, but profit and the gain that you are after is another unless you are merely investing in funds as a mental challenge or a virtual hobby ? Geoff Wilson raked in $60m in dividends alone last year despite his funds being in the doghouse. Do you really think that your comment about “greed in the capitalist world is very bad so no to privately listed funds” matters at all to Geoff. After all he started his fund with his own money. You seem to be living in a world of ideals where you want to profit, but that anyone who makes you a profit should not be privately listed. An unbelievable and unrealistic expectation IMHO !
