I get what your saying, and to some extent i agree its disappointing, but they don't have a crystal ball.
maybe they thought WIN would increase, so they held it for a while until the truth crystalized, and it didn't rise, so their next best option was to book a tax loss that can be applied to some other gains.
I think reason WAM is down is because whole market is down and they have done a lot of deals where shares used to buy other companies and those shares now released onto falling market.
Some of this could have been done better for sure but all is not lost.
