    The deal would have had to be announced and shares issued first before BHP would cease.

    But seriously, this is a none event. BHP were 'gone' long ago. They just couldnt sell their stock on market, so just held on. Eventually, if someone wants it, that will simply buy BHP's stake offmarket.
