That's why you have Atlas as an small part of a diversified portfolio, in my opinion anyone who has more than 5-10% in this type of company should have their money managed by others .
If they lost heavily maybe they should learn a lesson. But that is what happens when you listen to overly optimistic people and berate more conservative thinkers.
Always look down before you look up. I miss many oppportunities but I also miss a lot of duds.
For me Atlas was the 'spicy ' part of my portfolio with a very high risk high reward ratio. In my opinion if you couldn't see that the research you do is negligent, avoiding the risk.
Anyway all those who bought did so willingly and those who sold dodged a bullet.
However just opinion maybe others see these sort of stocks as having a charity component.
