Soooooo... MUFG owns +20% of Morgan Stanley.
If Morgan Stanley has to list as majority owner, so does MUFG because its large stake in MS.
Morgan Stanley bought the stock acting as a prime broker.
Morgan buys stock for funds with their own capital when funds request them to. When they do this and they accumulate over 5%, they have to list themselves as the major shareholders.
Morgan was never actually a substantial holder, it was just buying for hedge funds.
No large holder really offloaded, its just a confusing set of announcements.
The more you know. All is still good.
