They are bottom-feeding shorting scum, and their presence in substantial holding notices is usually bad news that something dodgy is being orchestrated (with ASIC usually missing in action) like shorting, pumping and dumping before placement they might know of, only to buy back and return collateral once share price dives.
In this case however, this could be good news - it seems they underestimated the strength of gold trend and the rise of Spartan, and (based on their notice on 13th March showing persistent selling, but then having to buy back), they are doing what I enjoy seeing shorters do - burn.
