Well The (New Hope) Coal business will be a drag for the foreseeable future. And we await a continuing improvement from ChemCopper = Contribution to Group result: $38.7 million loss.
I don't invest in SOL for significant capital growth. It is a diversified conglomerate - that has a history of solid, but unspectacular regular dividends and the occasional special dividend.
My previous comment related to SOL (and BKW) management focus on this issue over the past 18? months - not to mention internal and external costs. Milner can now refocus on managing SOL (and BKW), that was my intent of the post. I think this was not the first time that this "idea" has been floated. I just hope it is the last.
In summary, I probably prefer BKW to SOL and may swap - this however does not make my sentiment "a sell".
