You may be surprised at their willingness to engage with a fellow shareholder, especially those HC posters who demonstrate a capacity for independent analysis, such as malmanu and chiggles. Remember that most fund managers are investing OPM (other peoples' money) and with a wide range of investment options have to rely on some pretty dumb-assed research, especially on smaller stocks. These reports are often done by kids with poor deep quantitative research skills.


Why not try it?

Investors sometimes have to dump some Index Fund portions of their total portfolios but should have the capacity to wait 3 or 6 months to sell stock after the share is dumped from, say, the S&P 200. The key questions you could ask are:
1. Are your sales primarily shares held in Index Funds?
2. If so, how much time do you have to sell the stock, especially if it apparent that the Share Price is artificially low?
