This announcement sees CS returning another 40m of borrowed stock. When added to the previously returned 19.3m of borrowed stock, we get 59.3m total returned from the original 62.3m borrowed. So, only 3m of CS's borrowed stock remained outstanding as at last Friday.

Essentially, CS (or its clients) has given up on the idea of conducting a shorting campaign which, as a by-product of returning this borrowed stock, has now taken CS below 5%. The circumstances for a viable shorting campaign simply did not exist/eventuate, so it's no surprise and good to see the borrowed stock being returned.

Shortman is also continuing to report no meaningful shorting activity by anyone else. No surprises there either.
