Not a great piece to land pre-RC Final Report but it could be a clever bit of downramping by Macquarie should they wish to look at an acquisition of a player like an AMP or IOOF in the next 12-24 months once the dust has settled.
An additional $1.5B of remediation costs would be a disaster and would essentially guarantee that none of the c. $0.35-0.40 capital return from the sale of the life/mature business will find its way back to shareholders pockets.
