Ann: Ceasing to be a substantial holder, page-7

Now here's something interesting from ASIC short position report, (p.s. why was the 21st delayed ASIC???) the shorts were slowly dropping leading up to the end of year Ann, then on the day of the Ann, an additional 4.2M short positions were reported......then the day after it went down by 5.9M.

My take is that the reduction of 5.9M is Shorter positions being covered after the drop, however the purchase of 4.2M is interesting as it would not have been a knee jerk reaction so I suspect this was looking more than 1 day ahead to cover, then knowing that the price would drop.


We also have our friends UBS becoming a sub holder on 26th, after not being one on the 14th (although still interests in 37M voting rights shares) But what is really interesting i that UBS apparently according to the Ann report did not have a direct sub interest in A2M on 1 August, but filed a Sub holder notice on 2 August covering 30 July to 1 Aug, so they had less than 2% on 1 August but boosted it to over 5% within 2 days..... on days that had less than 3.6 M and from teh point they bought the price dropped down until a brief spike on 16th (which doesn't seem to be them.

So based on the above I think they are borrowing all their shares and shorting them each time. By the time we receive a Sub holder notice, (up to 4 days later, what a joke ASX) they have covered them all by moving between entities (probably the XT trades) and trading down. maybe the shake a few lose and sell them to insto's..... nice money if you can make it.
