Yes since asking Zoono for clarification of the 30 day claim then got a very comprehensive answer listing all there EN tests ( so a great understanding of the U.K. / European regulation ,) I then extended my position but then the newspaper story’s broke with the Trading standards investigation , SP drops , so started to look into it in more detail .Hope not regretting this .
There are EN tests for bacteria
There are En tests for viruses
BS/ En tests govern what can be put on a label or claim in the U.K. and Europe markets .
All products also need to be registered with the BPR and Echa
But unfortunately there is not an EN test available for Zoono or anyone to legally make a 30 day claim - currently .
The law is very straightforward as is the EN test protocols having read them .
If you do you then run an unvalidated claim in accordance with the EN standards you run a risk it will get picked up by the authority’s and an investigation launched.
Thats is what has now happened in the U.K. to Zoono and as we can see from the letter PH wrote he is dealing with it .
But his work will be made more difficult where Zoono have removed there claim temporarily but the distributers , end users have not .
IMO this will not help .
For PH to pursuade the U.K. government that Zoono should be allowed to make this claim as posted by some posters is a little ambitious with the current regulations as they are .
It would mean all the current test protocols are in the bin as far as efficacy claims are concerned .
IMO what needs to happen is that Zoono with the regulators devise a new EN test protocol for a 30 day efficacy test where as with the current tests there is then a defined test protocol with a pass or a fail dependant on the log reduction achieved after 30 days .
But unfortunately as in the Pas 2424 Zoono efficacy test document back in 2015/16 when Zoono asked to extend this 24 hr test to 7 and 30 days
The results were
After 30 days whilst there was still a log reduction reading against 2 named bacteria both log readings of 2.65 and 0.54 excellent news on one hand but on the other if this was a recognised En test the log reduction readings would have been a fail and a 30 day claim would not be allowed ( all hypothetical as there isn’t a En test )
Headings then like
”GTR using Zoono that will kill coronavirus for upto 30 days “ doesn’t assist the regulatory journey but are brilliant for sales !
Not sure about the TGA regulation
The USA regulator is the EPA that governs what can go on a label in accordance with the testing protocols conducted by accredited laboratory’s .
