I recall a classic moment back in the 80's when Robert Holmes a court did this to BHP - brought in and sold a couple of times, generating substantial holder changes each time and spinning the market out totally. He pushed the price all over the place and made a killing doing it.
He damn near ended up with the company ... was snookered in the end because he just couldn't get enough control when the board managed to muster some support.
I wonder if this is a similar play?
