These announcements are difficult to make sense of because it's likely these originate from prime broking agreements. That is, it's possible the end economic ownership is in a (hedge) fund held via a swap, but the actual stock is held by UBS. It's possible they have multiple funds owning/shorting this stock so the movements of the substantial are not completely transparent.
