Picking the exact top and bottom. is nearly impossible. But if you look at long term cycles, they are sinusoidal. Still hard for picking top and bottom. But if you do not worry about lowest price and are happy to buy 10 % off bottom or before top then it becomes easy. Bottoms and tops are always quite so just look for the quite periods. Also I pick market cycles which have lots of flags. The Put / Call ratio had long been above 2 for many years. This indicates a very optimistic view of markets. Last August it went below 1. I posted it here Again a flag for market getting pessimistic. Margine loans were at almost max in august as well another bad signs. The 50 DMA of most of the indexes Turned negative in September. not a good sign.
