Shorting is in all its forms is share price manipulation and maniputiom is illegal . Some have been jailed for same but it us too hard and costly too address those with the deep pockets to manipulate.
there been senate enquiries into those behaviours but its too complex to tackle. As well as annoying those insto..
about a year ago a superfund manage spoke on behalve of yhe industry admitting to shorting . But said it would discontinue the practice; i doubt anyone believe that spokes person
