Who knows ? I have my suspicions. The fact is no company wants to pay more than they have to. With this in mind there are lots of games and manipulation that can be done. If there is a bidding war it certainly helps one party if they can get their hands on as many shares as possible before the bidding war begins. Imagine getting your hands on 20% before the bidding war begins. Firstly it will save you money, secondly it makes it harder for your opponent to get 50% , ( actually need 60% of remaining shares ), and more difficult to get to the 75% needed in a scheme such as this , ( I imagine a competing bidders shares still make part of the 75% requirement). Then if the 2nd bidder doesn’t win the bidding war they can still make a decent profit on the 20% they accumulated before the bidding war began. I’m still hopeful of a second bidder. This whole process still has months to play out. Patience is required.
