They generate a return for what they charge the borrower . It is indeed a cloak and dagger dance and the lack of transparency gives the HFT an advantage. The asx is happy to accommodate that as they want turnover .

100 correct. Unfortunately, the ASX should remind itself that we are retail investors, and not tourists to Macau, Las Vegas or Monaco.
