It's interesting that when a short sale occurs the physical stock is delivered up to the purchaser, despite the seller having sold stock which was borrowed and Title having left the owner......on the premise that the seller promises to deliver up an equal number of stock on closure of the short lol. So if you had a lump of stock you could generate sub notices in and out every time a short opened and closed? Which partly explains why short sales are required to be reported separately?
However.......in this case tutor explained that State Street is acting as custodian for a bunch of ETFs and others on entry to the ASX200, so they are not the shorters as they were last time....
